Why I Created Babble & Books

Hi there!

If we haven’t met yet, I’m Christina, aka Tina, —speech-language pathologist, mom of two, and Co-Owner of The Speech & Language Center. I’ve spent years working with families and young children, and one thing I’ve learned again and again is that the most powerful learning happens in the everyday play moments—like reading a book together, singing a silly song, or playing with sounds and gestures or with a favorite toy.

That’s why I created Babble & Books.

Babble & Books is more than just a story time—it’s a space for connection, learning, and growth. It blends my professional expertise with my love for working with little ones in their earliest years of communication, as well as some lessons I’ve learned from my own children. These sessions are designed for kids ages 1–4, and every detail—from the books we choose to the sounds we explore—is meant to support early speech and language development in a fun, natural way.

As a speech therapist and mom, I’ve seen how even the smallest moments of interaction—pointing to a picture, making an animal sound, repeating a word—can spark real progress. I also know how overwhelming it can feel for parents who want to support their child’s development but aren’t always sure where to start. That’s where Babble & Books comes in.

These free sessions offer families a warm, welcoming environment where kids can explore, play, and learn using all of their senses. Whether you attend at Harmony Kids Playhouse or in our home office, each space is designed to invite curiosity and encourage meaningful connection. And one of the most important ingredients? Repetition and routine. The more your child participates, the more comfortable and engaged they become—and the more their language skills grow.
